母裁决(对称双向+第三轴)

弦理论的硬核成就是真的(引力子必需性、反常相消、黑洞熵微观推导、工具反哺数学与重离子物理),它的实验真空也是真的(零个被证实的判决性预言、SUSY/额外维/宇宙弦全部未见);景观是真实的理论可能性(discretuum 机制成立、KKLT 自称构造而非证明),它的数字化神化也是真的(「10^500」连提出者本人都称为 arbitrary guess);批评者的不可证伪指控有真内核,「弦理论已死/不是科学」的死刑判决却越过证据——而双方共同遮蔽的最深一层是:对这个纲领最尖锐的怀疑(Swampland,尤其 dS 猜想)不来自外部批评者,来自弦理论自己的核心圈层。

灵魂句:引力子是真的、黑洞熵是真的、工具反哺是真的——真的不是「已被实验证实」和「景观已解释宇宙常数」这两层被声称的胜利;零实验预言是真的、不可判伪的困境是真的——真的不是「弦理论已死、不是科学」这层被声称的死刑。弦战争二十年,双方各执一把尺子当公理;而这个理论最深刻的自我怀疑,从来写在它自己的论文里。

弦理论还是科学吗

一、裁决对象:三层升格与两个阵营

本篇不问「弦理论有没有真东西」——有,而且比它的批评者承认的多(§二)。本篇审的是围绕这个纲领的三层升格

升格一:成就→证实。 把「数学自洽 + 工具产出 + 结构性证据」说成「已被实验证实」或「唯一候选故必然为真」。典型标本:Kane 1997 年题为 《String Theory Is Testable, Even Supertestable》Physics Today 50(2), 40–42;AIP 会员杂志,观点文/媒体文章)的檄文,以及 Witten 2003 年 NOVA 访谈中「One very important aspect of string theory is definitely testable」的表述——同一访谈里他也说直接检验「I suspect that’s a long shot」。二十年后的实验现状见 §三。

升格二:景观→已解释。 把「景观在理论上可能存在」说成「10^500 个真空已被证明存在、宇宙常数已被人择解释」。提出者本人的措辞远比传闻克制(§四、§五)。

升格三:批评→死刑。 把「尚无判决性预言」升格为「不是科学/已死/40 年零产出」。典型标本:Smolin《The Trouble with Physics》(2006) 书封「As a scientific theory, string theory has been a colossal failure and is dragging down the rest of physics」(经 Duff 1112.0788 §2.1 逐字转引并标注 “the cover asserts”);Woit《Not Even Wrong》(2006) 导言「a ‘theory’ that makes no predictions, not even wrong ones」。§六逐条对质。

两个阵营与第三轴:「弦战争」(string wars)的公开叙事是两军对垒——辩护方(Duff、Polchinski、Kane、Dawid 的认识论背书)对批判方(Smolin、Woit、Ellis–Silk、Hossenfelder)。本篇的独占切口是加上第三轴:内部危机——Swampland 纲领,尤其 2018 年 dS 猜想,是 Vafa(弦理论核心圈层)自家产物,它威胁的恰恰是景观派自己的 KKLT 地基(§八)。外部两军各自宣称终局时,战场本身在从内部塌陷或重建——这才是 2026 年看这个题目的正确视角。

形式标注纪律:本篇严格区分一手论文、综述、会议讲义、观点文(apologia/critique)、媒体叙事与访谈。弦战争双方的旗舰文本多为当事人论战文(Duff 1112.0788 是辩护文、Banks hep-th/0412129 是批评讲稿、Susskind hep-th/0302219 是会议讲义),引用时一律带形式标签,不与一手研究结论混同。

二、守真锚:弦理论的硬核成就(防虚无侧地板)

先把地板钉死。以下每一条都是一手来源,共同构成对「40 年零产出」虚无化的直接否证。

锚一:引力子是理论必需,不是外加假设。 1974 年 Scherk 与 Schwarz 提出把闭弦谱中甩不掉的无质量自旋 2 态解释为引力子,把弦理论重新定位为量子引力统一理论。当事人 Schwarz 的一手回顾逐字:

“In [88], Scherk and I proposed to interpret string theory as a quantum theory of gravity, unified with the other forces. … A better choice would have been String Theory as a Quantum Theory of Gravity Unified with the Other Forces.” —— Schwarz, arXiv:0708.1917, §5

且 Schwarz 明确记载优先权:「Although we were not aware of it at the time, Tamiaki Yoneya had obtained the same result somewhat earlier」(同节)。同一节还有本篇双向承重的一号锚(主代理亲核):

“First, gravity was required by both of the known critical string theories. a forceful way of expressing this is the assumption that the fundamental physical entities are strings predicts the existence of gravity. In fact, even today, this is really the only direct experimental evidence that exists in support of string theory, though there are many other reasons to take string theory seriously.” —— Schwarz, arXiv:0708.1917, §5(原文大小写如此)

防虚无侧:引力存在这件事,在「弦预言引力」的意义下确实与弦理论自洽共生;防过誉侧:当事人自己把这份「证据」的份量限定到「only direct experimental evidence」——它是相容性证据,不是判决性检验。

锚二:Green–Schwarz 1984 反常相消 → 第一次超弦革命。 SO(32) 与 E8×E8 是仅有的两个可使十维 N=1 理论规范/引力/混合反常全部相消的规范群,此结果直接引爆 1984 年热潮:

“Following these discoveries there was a sudden surge of interest in superstring theory. After more than a decade, string theory had emerged from the doldrums.” —— Schwarz, arXiv:1201.0981, §8(原始文献 Green & Schwarz, Phys. Lett. B149:117–122, 1984,经同文参考文献节确认;原文付费墙,经作者一手回顾逐字间接确认)

锚三:Strominger–Vafa 1996 黑洞熵微观推导(主代理亲核摘要):

“The Bekenstein-Hawking area-entropy relation S_BH=A/4 is derived for a class of five-dimensional extremal black holes in string theory by counting the degeneracy of BPS soliton bound states.” —— arXiv:hep-th/9601029,摘要

这是量子引力史上第一个对黑洞熵公式的微观统计推导,适用范围限于极值/近极值黑洞——真实、硬核、且有明确边界(本库黑洞信息悖论篇已用它作地基锚)。

锚四:工具反哺触达实验——但措辞自带限定。 KSS(Kovtun–Son–Starinets)用弦理论方法给出强耦合规范理论黏滞系数/熵密度普适值:

“Using string theory methods, we show that this ratio is equal to a universal value of ℏ/4πk_B … We provide evidence that this value may serve as a lower bound…” —— arXiv:hep-th/0405231,摘要

与重离子实验的关联,作者正文措辞是猜想性的(主代理亲核 Discussion 节):「There are experimental hints that the viscosity of the QGP … is surprisingly small, possibly close to saturating the viscosity bound」——“experimental hints… possibly close to” 必须原样保留,删掉限定词就会变成过誉。

锚五:AdS/CMT 的自述定位是工具。 Hartnoll 讲义:「It seems reasonable to hope, therefore, that the AdS/CFT correspondence may be able to offer insight…」(arXiv:0903.3246, §1.1);McGreevy 讲义自陈证据基础之局限:「our best evidence for the Assertion comes with the aid of supersymmetry and complicated technology from string theory, and applies to very peculiar theories…」(arXiv:0909.0518, §1)。两位奠基人都不主张凝聚态材料「就是」某个全息对偶。

锚六:数学反哺有数学家本人的承认。 Witten 1990 年获 Fields 奖章(IAS 官方页面:「Fields Medalist, 1990」)。镜像对称「物理预言→数学证实」的一手锚,来自数学家 Givental:

“By the mirror conjecture one usually means some intriguing relations (discovered by physicists) between symplectic and complex geometry… The remakable [sic] application of the mirror conjecture to enumeration of rational curves on Calabi–Yau 3-folds (1991…) raised a number of new mathematical problems — challenging maturity tests for modern methods of symplectic topology.” —— Givental, arXiv:alg-geom/9603021,摘要

锚七:振幅学反哺。 「引力振幅=规范振幅双拷贝」的一手:Bern–Carrasco–Johansson, arXiv:1004.0476,摘要(”we conjecture that this duality persists to all quantum loop orders…”),权威综述 arXiv:1909.01358。unitarity 方法奠基文 hep-ph/9403226v2(v1 已撤回,引 v2)。

锚八(与 §八对照用):纲领的自我修正能力。 Swampland 整个纲领就是弦理论共同体自己长出的怀疑机制(§八),这在「宗教/信仰」指控面前是最硬的反例——宗教不系统地产出否定自身地基的猜想。

小结:虚无侧「零产出」叙事在这八条面前不成立。但注意:锚一至锚七全是理论内部成就与工具产出,没有一条是「弦理论作为万有理论被实验证实」。地板很硬,天花板未定——这正是双向裁决的空间。

三、过誉靶一:「可检验/已被证实」——实验真空的现状

靶子:「弦理论是科学因为它已经可以检验/即将被 LHC 检验/已被间接证实」。

检验承诺的历史标本。Kane 1997 年的标题檄文(Physics Today观点文)题为「String Theory Is Testable, Even Supertestable」(出处经主代理开题预设纠正:非 Physics World);其预言的低能超对称谱此后被 Tevatron 与 LHC 逐步排除(该文全文 AIP 付费墙,仅首段经 NSTL 存档核实,正文其余关键句未核残留,见 §十四)。Witten 2003 年 NOVA 访谈(访谈形式):

“One very important aspect of string theory is definitely testable. That was the prediction of supersymmetry… It hasn’t been proved that supersymmetry is right.” / “we would hope to test the theory, conceivably directly at accelerators. I suspect that’s a long shot.” —— PBS NOVA, 2003

2025 年的实验现状(全部一手)

  • LHC 超对称:ATLAS Run 2 多喷注 RPV 搜索摘要逐字:「No significant excess over the Standard Model expectation is observed… Gluinos with masses up to 1800 GeV are excluded…」(ATLAS, arXiv:2401.16333, JHEP 06 (2024) 175);CMS Run 2 完整综述(CMS 成员执笔的综述,2025-10):「No significant deviations from standard model predictions were observed…」(arXiv:2510.17971);pMSSM 综合解读:funnel regions「almost completely excluded」(ATLAS, arXiv:2402.01392)。CMS 官方 SUSY 出版物索引列 156 篇出版物、无一发现。
  • 额外维:PDG 2025 版第 84 章(综述 PDF):ADD 对撞机限 M_D > 5.9–11.2 TeV(ATLAS);CMS 双喷注直接排除 7.9 TeV 以下弦共振;RS KK 引力子排除至数 TeV。
  • 质子衰变:Super-Kamiokande 摘要逐字「τ/B(p→e⁺π⁰) > 2.4 × 10³⁴ years… at 90% confidence level」(arXiv:2010.16098, PRD 102, 112011)。「排除最小 SU(5)、约束 SUSY GUT」的表述出自引用该结果的二手文献,Super-K 摘要本身未提 GUT——分层标注。
  • 宇宙弦:LIGO/Virgo/KAGRA O3 摘要逐字「for one loop distribution model, we set the most competitive constraints to date, Gμ ≲ 4 × 10⁻¹⁵」(arXiv:2101.12248, PRL 126, 241102);NANOGrav 15 年数据的双向句(2024 年有 Erratum,引用须注明):宇宙弦(除稳定场论弦)等模型可拟合信号,「However, these results strongly depend on modeling assumptions… and, at this stage, should not be regarded as evidence for new physics」(arXiv:2306.16219)——Bayes factor 10–100 被热炒为「宇宙弦证据」,摘要自带的否定句必须同时引用。

辩护方自己的承认(本篇枢轴句,主代理亲核 ar5iv v3)

“Lacking an answer to this problem, the theory is as yet unable to give a definitive ‘smoking-gun’ experimental prediction that would render the theory falsifiable. Of course there are some generic features of string theory like supersymmetric particles, extra dimensions, microscopic black holes and cosmic strings. If we are lucky, some of these may be confirmed at the Large Hadron Collider… But I am doubtful whether the kind of issues we are considering here will be resolved any time soon.” —— Duff, arXiv:1112.0788, §1

裁决:「已被实验证实」为假——连最旗帜鲜明的辩护者都承认没有 smoking-gun;「曾经承诺的可检验性均未兑现」为真——SUSY/额外维/宇宙弦/质子衰变四大窗口全部未见信号,且排除限逐年收紧。但「未兑现」的合法推论是「纲领仍未交付」,不是「纲领已破产」——§六处理那个方向的越界。

四、过誉靶二:景观与「10^500」的数字神化

靶子:「弦理论证明存在约 10^500 个真空,这是科学史上最深刻的发现之一」。

文献链逐环核查(全部一手,主代理亲核其中两条)

环一:Bousso–Polchinski 2000——discretuum 机制。四形式通量满足推广的 Dirac 量子化条件,多个通量的允许值「can form a sufficiently dense ‘discretuum’」;摘要措辞是 “we argue”(量子化条件)与 “we show”(多通量成谱),给出的数字是「of order 100 are needed」——是通量个数,不是真空计数hep-th/0004134,摘要)。

环二:KKLT 2003——自称构造,不是证明(主代理亲核摘要):

“We outline the construction of metastable de Sitter vacua of type IIB string theory. … We also prove, under certain conditions, that the lifetime of dS space in string theory will always be shorter than the recurrence time.” —— hep-th/0301240,摘要

对 dS 真空存在性,全文系统使用 “outline the construction”/”argue”;摘要里唯一的 “prove” 限定在 “under certain conditions” 且仅针对寿命<复发时间这一命题。引言同样措辞:「Here, we use our knowledge of quantum corrections and extended objects in string theory to argue that there are dS solutions…」(§I,ar5iv)。KKLT 的自我定位是「构造+论证」,不是存在性证明——记住这一点,§八的 Swampland 危机会回到这里。

环三:Susskind 2003——「educated guesses」会议讲义形式

“In this lecture I make some educated guesses, about the landscape of string theory vacua. Based on the recent work of a number of authors, it seems plausible that the lanscape [sic] is unimaginably large and diverse.” —— hep-th/0302219,摘要(ar5iv 版)

真空数量的措辞是「astronomical, measured not in the millions or billions but in googles or googleplexes」(§1)——全文未出现 10^500。他对 KKLT 的评价同样不恭:「jury-rigged, Rube Goldberg contraptions that could hardly have fundamental significance. But in an anthropic theory simplicity and elegance are not considerations.」(§1)

环四:真空计数链——全是「估计」级措辞。Ashok–Douglas:「This should give a reasonable estimate for actual numbers of vacua…」(hep-th/0307049,摘要),其 §1 把 Bousso–Polchinski 的量级转述为「say N_vac ∼ 10^{120}」(注意是 10^120 不是 10^500,且带 “say”)。Denef–Douglas 的自我限定(承重引文):

“Thus the results we give should be considered as formal developments, with suggestive implications for real physical models, but which might be modified in light of better understanding.” —— Denef–Douglas, hep-th/0404116, §1

Taylor–Wang 2015 的 O(10^{272,000}) 自称「Applying the Ashok-Denef-Douglas estimation method… suggests」(arXiv:1511.03209,摘要)——估计方法的暗示,非计数定理。

环五:「10^500」的考古——提出者本人拆台(主代理亲核 §2.1):

“The number 500 has become a sort of a code for the landscape, because this is the number of handles on a large Calabi-Yau manifold, but for now it is an arbitary [sic] guess. It is still not certain whether the number of vacua in string theory is dense enough to account for the smallness of the cosmological constant, or even whether it is finite…” —— Polchinski, hep-th/0603249, §2.1

同一节还有一句辩护方自己递的刀:「How trustworthy are the approximations in KKLT? A skeptic could argue that there are no examples where they are fully under control.」本次六捆调研在所抓一手文献中均未定位到字面「10^500」——它是共同体流传的量级代号(Susskind 说 googles、Banks 转述为 10^{10^2}、Ashok–Douglas 转述 BP 为 10^120),字面首出处未定位(未核残留,§十四)。「10^500 个真空已被证明存在」的流行叙事,在源头文献里连字面都不存在。

环六:复杂度上界——「 prove」只限玩具模型。Denef–Douglas:「we show that such problems are typically NP hard. In particular, we prove that in the Bousso-Polchinski model, the problem is NP complete.」(hep-th/0602072,摘要)——严格证明仅限 Bousso–Polchinski 玩具模型,一般命题是 “typically”。且其结论自带存在性反讽:「even if we were to find compelling evidence that some vacuum of string theory describes our universe, we might never be able to find that vacuum explicitly」——即便景观为真,找到我们的真空也可能原则上不可行。

环七:内部怀疑者的底线。Banks(会议讲稿合成的观点批评文):

“The reader should be warned in advance that my personal bottom line on this subject is that the Landscape probably does not exist.” —— Banks, hep-th/0412129, §1

“In my opinion, the concept of an effective potential on moduli space as a tool for finding string models of gravity, is a snare and a delusion…” —— 同文 §2

裁决:discretuum 机制与 KKLT 构造是真实的理论进展(防虚无:景观不是拍脑袋口号,它有具体机制与候选构造);但「10^500 已证明/景观已确立」为假——全链条自称 construction/argue/estimate/suggests,提出者本人称 500 为 arbitrary guess,且 Banks 级的内部怀疑从未被驳倒。措辞分层(construction vs proof)就是本篇的命门证据:读景观文献,动词比数字重要。

五、过誉靶三:人择、宇宙常数与「94%」

靶子:「人择原理+景观已经成功解释了宇宙常数——Weinberg 1987 年就预言了它」。

Weinberg 1987 原文摘要是双刃的(主代理亲核 NASA ADS 页):

“A cosmological constant that is within 1 or 2 orders of magnitude of its upper bound would help with the missing-mass and age problems, but may be ruled out by galaxy number counts. If so, one may conclude that anthropic considerations do not explain the smallness of the cosmological constant.” —— Weinberg, PRL 59, 2607 (1987),摘要末句DOI

原文自己留了退路:若星系计数否决,则人择不解释 Λ 之小。「Weinberg 用人择预言了宇宙常数」的流行叙事把这份保留吃掉了。概率化升级版是 Martel–Shapiro–Weinberg 1998, astro-ph/9701099(1997 年 1 月提交,早于加速膨胀发现),摘要称现测值「is a reasonably likely value to observe, even if all values of ρ_V are equally likely a priori」——注意 “equally likely a priori” 是假设不是结论。批评方一手:Smolin hep-th/0407213 摘要:「Cases which have been claimed as successful predictions from the AP are shown to be not that」,正文逐条反驳 Weinberg 论证(观点性批评文)。

Polchinski 的景观论证链与 94%。其 Solvay 2005 报告(会议报告/综述形式)给出接受景观的理由链(§1.2,主代理亲核):

“(1) Stuff gravitates, and the vacuum is full of stuff. (2) Therefore the vacuum energy must have some way to adjust. (3) It is difficult for the adjustment to select a definite small value for the vacuum energy, but it is easy to access all values, and this, within an order of magnitude, accounts for what we see in nature.” —— hep-th/0603249, §1.2

同节他承认反方期待的心理学来源:「the strongest reason for expecting to find it is not a scientific argument but a psychological one: we wish fundamental theory to be as predictive as we have long assumed it would be」。十年后的 Munich 会议文(会议立场文):「It is often said that the multiverse is not predictive, but in a very real sense the exact opposite is true… This was the prediction most worth making, and only the multiverse made it.」(arXiv:1512.02477, §3)以及那句被反复引用的「So this is my estimate for the likelihood that the multiverse exists: 94%.」——94% 是一个物理学家在会议立场文里自报的半贝叶斯主观估计(其续篇 arXiv:1601.06145 自述「it is very far from the central point of the discussion」;v2 官方注明 arXiv 版非全文),把它当科学结论引用是双重越界。

永恒暴胀×景观=多重宇宙的联姻与测度问题(本库暴胀篇已立,此处只钉接口):联姻的一手原文在 Guth 2007 §3:「string theory has no preferred vacuum, but instead has perhaps 10^{1000} metastable vacuum-like states. Eternal inflation then has potentially a direct impact on fundamental physics, since it can provide a mechanism to populate the landscape of string vacua.」(hep-th/0702178,§3,ar5iv 亲核);其代价同文 §4 自认:「anything that can happen will happen; in fact, it will happen an infinite number of times」+「we still do not understand how to define probabilities in an eternally inflating spacetime」。Tegmark 四层级框架自认 Level II–IV 有严重测度问题(astro-ph/0302131,摘要)。2017 年 SciAm 交锋双方存档:IS&L《Pop Goes the Universe》「inflationary cosmology, as we currently understand it, cannot be evaluated using the scientific method」(观点文)对 Guth 等 33 人《A Cosmic Controversy》「inflation is not only testable, but it has been subjected to a significant number of tests and so far has passed every one」(观点文)——辩方为暴胀单场模型可测性辩护、控方攻击加多重宇宙的范式整体,二者可同时成立(暴胀篇裁决,本篇不复审)。

多重宇宙科学性的哲学对质:辩护方 Carroll:「Multiverse theories are utterly conventionally scientific, even if evaluating them can be difficult in practice.」(arXiv:1801.05016,摘要会议邀请文);批评方 Ellis:「Thesis H3: Multiverses are a philosophical rather than scientific proposal.」(astro-ph/0602280, §9观点性综述)。

裁决:人择界是真实的逻辑构造(在本库人择/微调篇的术语下:给定系综+测度的条件化合法);「人择已成功解释宇宙常数」为升格——Weinberg 原文自带退路、Martel 等的先验假设未证、测度问题未解、且解释力完全押在景观为真上,而景观本身(§四)是 construction 级、(§八)正被自家 Swampland 威胁。链条越长,越不能把末端说成既成事实。

六、虚无靶:「弦理论已死/不是科学」

靶子:「弦理论 40 年没有一个预言,不可证伪,所以不是科学/已经死亡/拖着物理学陪葬」。

Duff 还点了批评方的对称软肋(§2.1):Smolin 书中建议的替代纲领「There is not a single falsifiable prediction!」——不可证伪的指控若作硬判据,会同样杀死批评者自己的候选。

对质三:Polchinski 书评的逐条拆。其 American Scientist 书评《All Strung Out?》(2007,Wayback 存档全文书评/论战文):Smolin 的兴衰叙事「more a work of drama than of history」;指其暗能量「预言-溃退」叙事为虚构:「There was, in fact, no such prediction.」;对 Woit「无人知道弦理论是什么」的指控只让半步:「This assertion is partly true…」——辩护方对「理论尚未定义完整」的承认是真实的,虚无侧可以合法引用,但引不到「已死」。

对质四:本库既有裁决的交叉火力。Ellis–Silk 的判据是 Popper 可证伪性;而本库可证伪性篇已裁定:逻辑不对称真,但「划界硬标准」被 Duhem–Quine 打穿、1983 年 Laudan 宣告「划界已死」、不可证伪≠伪科学≠无价值。用已被本库裁决为「非硬标准」的尺子去量弦理论的死刑,是把尺子当公理——这是虚无侧的方法论命门(δ1 篇对 Dawid 侧同样适用,见 §七)。

对质五:产出清单(§二)直接否证「零产出」。 黑洞熵、KSS、镜像对称、振幅学方法、AdS/CMT 工具链——批评者若把这些记账为「不算万有理论的产出所以是零」,那是移动球门:原指控是「零产出」,不是「零个万有理论判决性预言」。后者为真(§三),前者为假。

裁决:「尚无判决性预言、理论尚未有完整定义、SUSY 预期落空」全部属实——这些是真内核;「不是科学/已死/零产出/拖垮物理学」为升格——它把「尚未交付」读成「已经破产」,把「研究纲领的认识论地位之争」(§七,哲学界未决)伪装成已下判的死刑,且其判据本身在本库已被裁定非硬标准。对称地,辩护方「唯一候选故必真」(NAA 的通俗版)同样把研究策略论证升格为真理论证——下一节两尺同量。

七、认识论战争本体:Dawid 三论证 vs Ellis–Silk 证伪主义

这一节是本篇的独占核心之一:弦战争的方法论层不是「科学 vs 非科学」的已决问题,而是两套合法但各自受限的评估框架之争,双方都把自己的框架边界抹掉了。

Dawid 的非经验确认(一手定义,主代理亲核 §6)

NAA: “The No Alternatives Argument: Scientists have looked intensely and for a considerable time for alternatives to a known theory H that can solve a given scientific problem but haven’t found any. This observation is taken as an indication of the viability of theory H.” MIA: “The Meta-Inductive Argument from success in the research field: Theories in the research field that satisfy a given set of conditions have shown a tendency of being viable in the past…” UEA: “The Argument of Unexpected Explanatory Interconnections: Theory H was developed in order to solve a specific problem. Once H was developed, physicists found that H also provides explanations with respect to a range of problems which to solve was not the initial aim of developing the theory…” —— Dawid, arXiv:1702.01133, §6

Dawid 自带的两条防过誉自限(主代理亲核):§3.1「non-empirical confirmation does not mean conclusive confirmation」;§4.1「No case of conclusive non-empirical confirmation has ever occurred in any field of science up to this day.」且他自认单论证不足、需「two or even three arguments… in conjunction」才能达显著(§4.2)。Dawid 框架的合法输出是「研究纲领信心的贝叶斯更新」,不是「理论为真的确认」——凡引用 Dawid 为「弦理论已被非经验证实」背书者,越的是 Dawid 自己划的界。(术语注:第三论证 2013 专著称 “Unexpected Explanatory Coherence”,2017 论文称 “Interconnections”,引文以所用版本为准。)

Ellis–Silk 的证伪主义檄文(§六已引):其判据「若无任何证据能让你放弃该理论,它就不是科学理论」。该判据本身在本库可证伪性篇已被裁定非硬标准;且 Ellis 自己的多重宇宙批评(Thesis H3,astro-ph/0602280)是哲学立场声明而非裁决——哲学家内部对此并无共识(Kragh 中立表述:arXiv:1702.05648,摘要「has reopened the demarcation problem between science and non-science」)。

战场标本:Munich 2015 与 CUP 2019 卷。会议「Why Trust a Theory? Reconsidering Scientific Methodology in Light of Modern Physics」(2015-12-07~09,Polchinski 1512.02477 comments 逐字确认);成果卷 Why Trust a Theory? Epistemology of Fundamental Physics(CUP 2019,frontmatter 实抓)——撰稿名单正反同卷:Dawid、Polchinski、Kane 与 Ellis、Silk、Rovelli、Kragh 同在一本书里。这本身就是现状的最佳写照:不是一方赢了,而是问题被正式立为开放问题。 Quanta 定调报道(媒体叙事全文)存档了三方声音:Polchinski「String theory exists, and we have found it.」;Rovelli「The problem with Dawid’s ‘non-empirical confirmation’ is that it muddles the point.」;Ellis 邮件转述 Gross 立场「Dawid’s criteria are good for justifying working on the theory, not for saying the theory is validated in a non-empirical way.」——Gross 这句正是本篇裁决的雏形:Dawid 论证合法化的是「工作在它上面」,不是「它已经为真」。

哲学界的中立现状表述(SEP《Quantum Gravity》Spring 2024 版,条目):「In the case of string theory, there isn’t even really a ‘theory’ to speak of, so much as several clues pointing to what many hope will some day be an applicable, consistent physical theory.」(§1)以及 §4.1:「String theory, in particular, is plagued by a lack of experimentally testable predictions because of the tremendous number of distinct ground or vacuum states…」——哲学界的权威条目既不判死刑也不发证书。

裁决:两尺同量——① Dawid 侧:NAA/MIA/UEA 是合法的置信度更新结构,但其输出上限是「值得继续投入」;把「唯一候选」说成「必真」违反 NAA 自己的逻辑(找不到替代≠没有替代,且「解同一问题」的替代需逐个评估——LQG 等候选存在与否不影响此逻辑点)。② Ellis–Silk 侧:可证伪性作为警示合法(它正确指出了风险方向),作为死刑判据不合法(本库 δ1 裁决)。③ 双方共同遮蔽的第三选项:「强证据支持的研究纲领,尚无判决性检验」是一个合法的、稳定的中间状态——承认这个状态不需要修改科学的定义,也不需要修改弦理论的定义。这正是本库全息对偶篇对 AdS/CFT 下的同一裁决。

八、内部危机:Swampland 反噬景观

本篇第三轴。外部两军交战时,弦理论核心圈层自己长出了对景观地基的系统性质疑——这是判断「这个纲领是否还活着」时最该看的地方。

纲领诞生(2005–2006):措辞从第一天就是「猜想」。Vafa:「We use universality ideas from string theory to suggest that this is not the case, and that the landscape is surrounded by an even more vast swampland of consistent-looking semiclassical effective field theories, which are actually inconsistent.」(hep-th/0509212,摘要 v2,动词是 “suggest”)。Ooguri–Vafa 2006 摘要自称 “We make a number of conjectures…”,正文以 Conjecture 0/1/2/3/4 编号(hep-th/0605264)。

危机引爆(2018):dS 猜想(主代理亲核摘要与 v3 版本史):

“It has been notoriously difficult to construct a meta-stable de Sitter (dS) vacuum in string theory in a controlled approximation. This suggests the possibility that meta-stable dS belongs to the swampland.” —— Obied–Ooguri–Spodyneiko–Vafa, arXiv:1806.08362,摘要/§1 首句

对 KKLT 类构造的点名(§1,KKLT 列于 attempts 清单之首):「Despite the heroic efforts in these attempts to construct such vacua, there has been a number of issues raised… It is thus fair to say that these scenarios have not yet been rigorously shown to be realized in string theory.」以及自留的出口:「Note that the bound (1.1), while forbidding dS vacua, lends support to quintessence models.」四个月内自我修正:refined 猜想「turns out to evade all counter-examples at scalar potential maxima that have been raised」(Ooguri–Palti–Shiu–Vafa, arXiv:1810.05506,摘要)——「危机→反例→精炼」的快速迭代本身是这个纲领活着的证据,但也是它未定的证据。后续 TCC 同样「forbids long-lived meta-stable dS spaces, but allows sufficiently short-lived ones」(Bedroya–Vafa, arXiv:1909.11063,摘要 v5)。

纲领的自我标注(反神化自白)。Palti 综述 §1(主代理级承重):「The criteria, perhaps with one or two exceptions, are not proven from a microscopic physics perspective and so are usually stated as conjectures. Nonetheless, as we will review, some of these conjectures are backed by significant, and sometimes remarkable, evidence.」以及「it is currently very much a collection of arguments… not a field that can be reviewed as a list of derivable, provable results starting from underlying axioms」(arXiv:1903.06239, §1)。讲义版同调:van Beest et al., arXiv:2102.01111,摘要「Different proposals have been formulated in the form of Swampland conjectures.」

裁决(第三轴):① 防过誉侧新弹药——「弦理论预言多重宇宙」连内部都不稳:若 dS 猜想(或 TCC)为真,KKLT 型亚稳 dS 真空不存在,景观的宇宙学填充机制(§五联姻链)失去地基;但这个「若真」本身是猜想,且 refined 版已学会绕开反例。② 防虚无侧新弹药——Swampland 恰是虚无化的反证:一个「已死/宗教式」的纲领不会系统产出否定自身地基的猜想并引发十年攻防;这是活的科学的样貌。③ 对景观派的最大讽刺(中性陈述):景观最可信的威胁不来自 Smolin 或 Woit,而来自 Vafa。④ 对称约束:Swampland 文献全体自称 conjecture/proposal/suggest——不能用 Swampland 去宣告「景观已死」,那与用景观宣告「多重宇宙已立」犯的是同一个病。

九、2024–2026 现状:DESI、bootstrap 与「forever war」

DESI 一手官方数字(与 Swampland 的联姻全部为后续作者解读,分层标注):DESI 2024 VI 摘要:动力学暗能量偏好「2.6σ for the DESI+CMB combination, and persists or grows when SN Ia are added in, giving results discrepant with the ΛCDM model at the 2.5σ, 3.5σ or 3.9σ levels」(arXiv:2404.03002);DR2 更新至「3.1σ… ranges from 2.8–4.2σ depending on which SNe sample is used」(arXiv:2503.14738)。

联姻文献三极(全部是后续作者解读,非 DESI 官方结论):Swampland 阵营自评——「String theory naturally leads to the expectation that dark energy is not stable, and may be evolving as captured by the Swampland de Sitter conjectures… We find excellent agreement with recent experimental data from DESI DR2…」(Bedroya–Obied–Vafa–Wu, arXiv:2507.03090v3);quintessence 解读——Tada–Terada, arXiv:2404.05722;反方冷水——「No preference for this model over ΛCDM is found」(Ramadan–Sakstein–Rubin, arXiv:2405.18747,摘要)。若演化暗能量坐实,纯宇宙学常数被削弱,§五的人择 Λ 叙事格局随之改变——此句为本篇推断,非任何来源结论;且 2.8–4.2σ 未到 5σ,本库ΛCDM 篇对 DESI 的既有裁决(张力真·革命未定)继续适用。

bootstrap/「弦唯一性」新动向(2025–2026,媒体叙事+当事人观点):Quanta 2026-03-23 Wolchover 综述「Are Strings Still Our Best Hope for a Theory of Everything?」(全文媒体叙事)记录 S-matrix bootstrap 一侧的新兴奋与反方:Hossenfelder「String theory is not dead; it’s undead and now walks around like a zombie eating people’s brains.」(2024 YouTube 转述);Latham Boyle「these results… do show that there’s something very special about string theory」;作者总评「It’s become a forever war.」Arkani-Hamed 的拆台名言(Quanta 2024,Wired 同步页媒体叙事):「String theory is spectacular… But the track record for qualitatively correct statements about the universe is really garbage.」Vafa 2025 年立场(Quanta 播客逐字稿媒体叙事):「we have enough clues right now to be confident that we are on the right track」,并以「把无限可能裁成有限」为 Swampland 辩护。

建制运转证据 vs 「已死」叙事:Strings 2025 第 35 届年会 2025 年 1 月于 NYU Abu Dhabi 举行(NYU 官方页);Woit 博客(观点文)则称「No one had any significant progress to report…」(Not Even Wrong, 2025-01-10)。两者并存即现状:纲领在运转、产出在继续、终局仍缺席。

裁决:2026 年的弦理论既不是 2006 年弦战争叙事里的「将死」,也不是 1997 年 Kane 叙事里的「supertestable」——它是一个仍在运转、内部攻防激烈、实验零判决、认识论地位开放的成熟研究纲领。DESI 给了 quintessence/Swampland 一侧一个 2.8–4.2σ 的暗示级窗口,但它同时也是对人择 Λ 叙事的压力——同一组数据,两个方向都别急着开香槟。

  • 「CMB-S4 取消=弦/暴胀已死」Science 标题是「U.S. abandons hunt for signal of cosmic inflation」(媒体叙事)——经费决策不是科学判决,两个方向都不得挪用。
  • NANOGrav 宇宙弦热炒:Bayes factor 10–100 的媒体传播吃掉了摘要自带的「should not be regarded as evidence for new physics」(§三)。

十一、裁决书

  1. 弦理论的硬核成就:真。 引力子必需性(Yoneya/Scherk–Schwarz)、反常相消、Strominger–Vafa 黑洞熵、数学与振幅学反哺、KSS 工具链——一手俱在,「40 年零产出」为假。
  2. 弦理论作为万有理论被实验证实:假。 零个判决性预言;辩护方旗舰 Duff 自认无 smoking-gun;SUSY/额外维/宇宙弦/质子衰变四窗全空且限值收紧。
  3. 「可检验性即将兑现」叙事:已被时间证伪一轮。 Kane 1997「supertestable」的低能 SUSY 谱被逐步排除;Witten 2003 的 SUSY 检验预期至 2025 未兑现。新一轮窗口(LISA 宇宙弦、轴子超辐射)合法但未至。
